For over 17 years, SafePlans’ experience combines extensive understanding of assessments and emergency planning for schools with an in-depth knowledge of emergency plans and homeland security strategies. Below is a sampling of projects recently completed or currently underway that exemplifies the skills and experience of our team.
State of Missouri Office of Homeland Security
2005 to Present
In late 2006, Governor Matt Blunt’s Homeland Security Advisory Committee voted to fund the creation of an all-hazards Emergency Response Information Plan system for all Missouri Schools (public and private). This expenditure was largely based on the unanimous recommendation of the Missouri Office of Homeland Security Safe Schools Working Group. This group is co-chaired by Missouri’s Homeland Security Coordinator and the Dept. of Elementary & Secondary Education and includes the Missouri Center for Safe Schools, Sate Emergency Management Agency, Department of Health & Senior Services, Department of Mental Health and more than 15 other organizations.
The Missouri ERIP project was initiated with a series of Concept of Operations meetings; where the State’s subject matter experts drafted emergency response plan templates and training programs that were integrated into the online system. Available to all Missouri schools since August 15th, 2007. ERIP enables schools to develop comprehensive emergency plans, train school staff online and share tactical response information (floor plans, digital images, etc.) with local responders through a secure critical information portal.
U.S. Department of Homeland Security Office of Domestic Preparedness
SafePlans was sub-contracted to work in a supportive capacity on the After Action Report that outlines the emergency response to the tragic nightclub fire in which 100 persons perished. Funded and supervised by Department of Homeland Security, Office of Domestic Preparedness, the areas examined and addressed within this report by SafePlans included incident command, emergency response and emergency services planning, training and equipment.

The Alamo Navaho Community School District (ANSD) is part of the Navajo Nation, but is located in rural New Mexico, some 180 miles from the Navajo Nation. This unique jurisdictional situation requires an extremely high level of pre-planning. As part of their grant, ANSD contracted SafePlans to develop a comprehensive, community-wide emergency preparedness program. This project was initiated with a Joint Planning Meeting that involved Federal, Tribal, State, County, Local and District leadership.
